“Our planet, our health”: WHO recommendations on how to stay healthy – Ulyanovsk today

We celebrated World Health Day on April 7th. This annual celebration is an opportunity to remind humanity of the importance of health and a healthy lifestyle.

World Health Day is a day for all those who are interested in their well-being, healthy body and strong spirit, as well as fighting for the protection of the environment and the improvement of the ecological situation, which directly affects the development of a healthy nation. Every year, the celebration of World Health Day is dedicated to the most important problems of humanity and each time it takes place with its own special theme. The theme of World Health Day 2022 is our planet, our health.

This World Health Day, against the backdrop of an ongoing pandemic, a global environmental crisis, an onslaught of diseases such as cancer, asthma and heart disease, WHO draws the attention of the world community to the urgent action needed to protect people and global health and strengthening the movement to create a prosperity-oriented society.

The WHO estimates that preventable environmental causes kill 13 million people worldwide each year. These include the climate crisis, the greatest threat to human health. The climate crisis is also a health crisis.

The climate and health crisis is driven by political, social and economic decisions. As a result of burning fossil fuels, more than 90% of people breathe unhealthy air. As global temperatures rise, mosquito-borne diseases are becoming more prevalent. Extreme weather conditions, land degradation and water scarcity lead to the forced movement of people and the deterioration of their health. Pollutants and plastics penetrate deeper oceans, higher slopes and food production systems. The production of unhealthy, highly processed foods and beverages, which represent one third of the greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere worldwide, leads to massive obesity, causing an increase in the number of cancers and cardiovascular diseases.

WHO encourages governments and the public to spread the word about what they are doing to protect the planet and their health and to build a prosperous society. On the planet, we must build a world in which clean air, water and food are available to all, in which the economy is at the service of health and prosperity, in which cities are fit for life and where people are are responsible for their own health and the health of the planet.

Health, according to the WHO, is not only the absence of physical defects and diseases, but also the totality of social, physical and mental well-being. The health of an individual and society as a whole depends on many social, physical and biological factors and is determined by 20% by the environment, 20% by heredity, 50% by lifestyle and only 10% depends on health care . System.

Human health, first of all, depends on him. Early prevention, healthy lifestyle, responsible attitude towards oneself and others, selection of goods and services that are not harmful to health and the environment – all these are necessary conditions for maintaining health and longevity and disease prevention.

Health and a healthy lifestyle are the main value, a happy feeling of being in this world. The realization of the spiritual, moral, spiritual, physical and reproductive potential is possible only in a healthy society.
The task of the state is to raise healthy children and to extend the lives of its citizens. Today, special attention is paid to the issues of preserving and enhancing the health of the people in our country, and they are rightly included in the national priority projects “Demography” and “Health”.

To stay healthy for as long as possible, the WHO recommends:

• To live an active lifestyle. Sedentary work should be offset by postpartum physical activity for at least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity per week.

• Healthy food. The diet should contain at least 400 grams of vegetables and fruits per day, whole grains, meat – low-fat varieties, nuts, dried fruits. Salt, sugar, fats should be limited. As a method of cooking products, it is better to choose steaming, boiling, baking. It is especially important to limit your salt intake to no more than 5 grams per day.

• Protect yourself from psycho-emotional overload and avoid stressful situations.

• Observe the balance of work and rest, sleep several hours -at least 7-8- for complete recovery of the body.

• Give up bad habits, especially smoking and alcohol abuse.
