“There is an interesting topic, with this I will recognize the whole world …” – this is how a happy children’s poem by Anna Bylinkina begins. Every elementary school student will immediately guess what school topic he is talking about – about the world around him. “The physical world is so big, but I’m just a student!” exclaims the hero of the poem with enthusiasm. The diverse world of the surrounding reality can evoke a variety of emotions and feelings: curiosity, interest, admiration, experience …
Perhaps, any teacher will agree that it is the study of the surrounding world that has a positive effect on the overall development of the child. In the process of knowing nature and the social world, thinking, imagination, speech improve, curiosity develops, the understanding of cause-effect relationships comes. And all this is based on the diverse material of nature, history and culture.
Of course, the world around us can not be known without thoughtful and careful observations, without an analysis of what appears. But a modern student can not do without educational literature. I highly recommend a perfectly designed line textbooks for the world around AA Pleshakov for grades 1-4 (EMC “School of Russia”) of the publishing house “Enlightenment”. As a teacher, I am fascinated by the thoughtfulness and interconnectedness of the topics proposed for study, the rich content, the bright and colorful design of the publications, but most importantly, the large number of additional materials that help prepare for the lesson with quality way so that it is not boring, informative and productive. In addition, I offer my children work from workbooksdeveloped specifically for these textbooks, the author NA Sokolova. These bonuses Exam Publishing House, released in 2022, are fully compliant with the second generation GEF for primary school and have been approved for use in educational institutions. Each notebook consists of two parts and contains a variety of tasks for organizing the active cognitive activity of the younger students.
As in the textbooks, the main lines of the course “The world around” are clearly kept in the notebooks: the blocks “Man and nature”, “Man and society”, “Rules for a safe life” are revealed. When studying these topics, the child is offered a variety of tasks – from “write the answer to the question”, “write the name”, “look at the pictures”, “fill in the board” to “draw” or “paste a photo” ». At the end of the school year the student’s workbook becomes very rich in content and a bright album with drawings, photos, self-composed texts, applications, etc. At the end of the notebook there is an appendix in which children can easily find drawings for the specified tasks, can cut them out and use them for mapping. In the pages of the notebook there are unusual games-experiments, which, using detailed instructions, can be carried out in groups or in pairs.
The modern lesson of the surrounding world in elementary school can not be imagined without experiments and experiments, discussions and projects. NA Sokolova’s educational and methodological ensemble allows the student to choose a topic for his / her own project, starting from the first grade.
Detailed instructions, questions, instructions will allow the student to approach the task independently, to creatively design his product and to present it to the class.
Each workbook work is closely related to the textbook texts, complementing each other:
“Read the textbook on pages 13-14. Write down which constructions helped to protect the inhabitants of the castle from the enemy attacks.” the Why is the New Year called “New”? Write what is new at the moment, use the textbook text.
Thus, children have the opportunity to develop semantic reading skills, the ability to find explicit and implicit information, and to make judgments.
Each topic ends with the heading “Let’s test our knowledge”, in which children can not only check the quality of the assimilation of the material using test assignments, but also compare their answers with the standard (correct choice) in school book.
The ecological education of the younger students is very important, therefore a large part of the material in the course of the world is dedicated to this subject. The topic of “Environmental Safety”, which my third graders recently became acquainted with, is presented in the workbooks in a meaningful and logical way. The world around us. Workbook. Grade 3. Part 2: in AA Pleshakov’s textbook “The world around us. Grade 3. In 2 parts. Part 2”. Federal State Educational Standard (to the new FPU) / NA Sokolova – 18th edition, revised and supplemented – M .: Publishing House “Examination”, 2022. – 80 pages (Series “Educational and methodological kit”). After reading the text of the textbook, the children are asked to work with the pictorial material of the workbook. After analyzing the presented scheme, independently (or in pairs) form schematically possible contamination chains. I would like to note that the work on the subject is well-studied, based on material that is already familiar to the children, they are interconnected and make it possible to work on the subject in a holistic way. Thus, for example, the completion of task No. 2 on “Environmental safety” will allow third graders to understand that the human body is vulnerable, exposed to pollutants:
“Look at the drawing on page 26 of your textbook. Think of the organ systems that make up the human body. Which of these systems are first exposed to pollutants?
Water __________ and ______________
Food ___________________________ “.
During the next educational dialogue, children consciously come to the conclusion that compliance with environmental safety measures is essential to maintaining their health. And they come to this conclusion on their own, completing the work of the workbook.
How important it is at this stage of the lesson to offer students practical work! And this choice was prepared by the authors of the manual – practical work “Introduction to a household water purification filter”. Each teacher will evaluate the assignment number 3 of the topic: a very convenient and detailed instruction for the younger students will allow them to cope on their own, because the purpose of the assignment is defined, equipment is suggested and clear and specific steps in the course of work are described. Students’ familiarity with a household filter involves a variety of working methods – from the simplest observation and study of instructions to a serious comparative analysis of the state of water before and after purification, followed by a conclusion.
Thus, based on even one topic we have just considered, we can say with confidence: the author of the textbook managed to solve to the fullest the main task of the course, namely to show the inseparable, the organic unity of man and nature, their interconnection , their interdependence, which will allow at an early stage of schooling, to form in children a holistic view of the world, of a person’s place in it.
After studying the subject, the thematic quality control of the assimilation of knowledge is necessary. There is an excellent offer for teachers working with EMC “School of Russia” – experimental work on the topic “The world around” in the textbook “The world around” by AA Pleshakov, authors ON Krylova and GI Tsitovich of the publishing house Examinations, 2022. The collections are designed for grades 1-4, contain material for the main sections of the textbook and are compiled taking into account the teaching-based approach to skills.
The introduction to environmental safety is completed with an audit work presented in two equivalent versions. Each selection consists of five tasks. The first work is based on the technique “Incomplete sentences”, allows you to determine the degree of assimilation of theoretical knowledge by younger students on the topic studied:
“Fill in the missing words in the definition.
_____________________ Safety is the protection of a person from harm
exposure to infected _______________ _________ ».
Tasks No. 2 and No. 3 require the choice of a correct answer from many options, but in task No. 4, the younger student must independently formulate the rules for protection against contaminated food (second choice) or contaminated air ( first choice) based on the knowledge acquired during the study of the subject.
Task # 5 of the audit work is a test of the ability to create pollution chains (workbook, work # 1 on this topic), determining the sequence of events and determining the relationship between them.
The test material can be used to build the ability of self-control or mutual control (there are options for correct answers at the end of the manual). They are small in size, so they can be used at a certain stage of the course, spending very little time or being offered for homework. In any case, both the training and the methodological kits – both the workbooks and the tests – are convenient and convenient to use together.
The hero of Anna Bylinkina’s poem ends her conversation about the world around us with these words:
I am interested in nature
I will find my place in this
To live in harmony with nature
I will learn everything as needed.
All that remains is to express the certainty that with such methodological kits offered for the study of the world around us and the testing of knowledge, any student will be able to be friends with nature, to study it with great interest, while developing his general culture, polymath and knowledge. creative abilities.
