The committee considered applications from municipalities for participation in the Pan-Russian competition for the best projects for the creation of a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historic settlements in 2022.
“The formation of a comfortable urban environment is one of the important elements of the integrated development of the Tver region, the creation of modern spaces in our cities, taking into account the peculiarities of their unique appearance, history and traditions,” says Igor Rudenya. .
This year, five projects will be presented in the Small Towns category for up to 20,000 inhabitants from the Upper Volga region. In Likhoslavl, it is planned to improve Privokzalnaya Square and part of Privokzalny Lane up to Victory Square. It is planned to create an event space, recreation areas, a street library in the area, to refine the square in front of the Obelisk of Victory and to place sculptures.
According to the project presented by Red Hill, the renovation of the central square near the House of Folk Art is planned – to install a tent, a playground, shopping kiosks, to create an open track and hiking trails.
In addition, Staritsa’s project to revitalize Komsomolsky Square is vying to win the competition. It includes the arrangement of the entrance areas, the creation of a multimedia alley, an education and play area for children, an amphitheater with a stage and a recreation area with hammocks.
In Andreapolis, a project is planned for the reconstruction of part of the city park along Parkovaya Street. It is planned to create an event and observation platform, several art objects, an amphitheater, historical terraces in the area, as well as the equipment of a natural spring.
Vesyegonsk will submit to the competition a project for the renovation of a section of Primorsky Park, which is planned to be divided into several theme areas – a nature play area, a mobile furniture area, a stage area, as well as an observation deck and a playground.
The Tver region is applying for participation in the competition and in the category “Small towns” from 20 to 50 thousand inhabitants. The area will present a project to improve the public territory “Spit of the Donkhovka River” in Konakovo. It is planned to be divided into 13 zones, including the Coniferous Forest Zone, Deciduous Forest Zone, Spacious Glade Zone, Meditation Slope, Water Contact Zone, Beach Zone, Children Zone, Fishing Zone, and other Fishing Zone.

The preparation of applications for participation in the competition is carried out in collaboration with the Center for Development of the Economy of Small Towns, which provides assistance to local authorities in the development of projects for the improvement of areas, unites the professional and specialized community.
The Pan-Russian competition for the best projects for the creation of a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historic settlements was organized in 2018 on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
During its conduct, the Tver region has become one of the top regions in Russia in terms of the number of selected applications. In total, since 2018, 15 projects have received support for the overall improvement of public spaces in the cities of the Upper Volga region. The total volume of funds raised from the federal budget for their implementation amounted to more than 900 million rubles.
