Trinity and Petrov fast in 2022: three bans for believers, the violation of which threatens misfortune

Orthodox citizens will celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity on June 12. And on June 20, after the end of Trinity Week, many believers will go on a long fast, called “Petrov”.

The feast of the Holy Trinity is celebrated on the 50th day after Easter. 2022 falls on Sunday 12 June.

The feasts of the Trinity marked the transition from spring to summer. With the Trinity, as a rule, all the agricultural work of the spring was finished. The hostesses carefully prepared for this: they cleaned the house, decorated the house with birch twigs, lindens, flowers and herbs, which symbolizes prosperity.

According to tradition, on this day, the heads were adorned with wreaths of flowers or heads embroidered with gold threads. Also at Trinity they baked a loaf and distributed it to unmarried girls in the forest.

If possible, on public holidays such as Trinity, it is best to postpone all work, including gardening. The work, as a rule, proved to be in vain and did not bring a positive result. Also on this date it is not recommended to sew, knit, embroider and think bad.

And on June 20, after the end of Trinity Week, many believers will go on a long fast, called “Petrov”. It was created in honor of the two holy apostles Peter and Paul. According to beliefs, fasting was established in memory of how the apostles fasted before preaching Christianity. In this way they sought to attain physical and spiritual perfection through temperance, repentance, and prayer. Such actions help us to feel oneness with God and his laws, to find like-minded people.
