Nature of Kiev: TOP-10 natural objects in need of protection

Environmentalists have also voiced potential threats to these areas.

The Kiev Ecological and Cultural Center (KECC), based on its own research, has listed the ten most valuable natural areas of the capital that must be declared protected in order to be preserved.

The top of such items was published by EKC on its Facebook page. According to environmentalists, many of these are little known to the public and may therefore be subject to development.

“From their natural value, they are much more unique than the natural objects of Kiev, which became popular thanks to the PR of local activists, for example, Sovskie Ponds, Gorbachykha land, Kuchmin Yar, Pronka Guly and others,” the center noted. . .

With the publication of the summit, environmentalists want to draw the attention of all Kievans, especially activists and journalists, to important ecosystem objects in order to achieve a protected state and protection for them.

1. Tract Pokal (Pokol), is located in the Goloseevsky area near the village of Korchevatoe, an area of ​​45 hectares. Represents unique areas of flooded deciduous forests. Such a valuable place is rarely found even in the Kiev region. Here grow 5 species of plants included in the Red Book of Ukraine – double-leafed lyubka, red ring root, elvore dremlik, dremel swamp, egg-shaped hiding place. In Lake Mikolaichik, which is part of Pokal Street, there are several dozen species of waterfowl, including gray and white herons, kingfishers, goldfish.

Threats: development of the area by developers from Svitlo-Park, “charm” of wildlife and the transformation of the area into a park.


2. Darnitsia meadows, the object is located in the Darnitsky area near Bortnichi, the area is 55 hectares. Ruins of unique flooded meadows of the Dnieper. Remnant of the primary natural landscape. Three species of Red Book plants grow here – red root ring with flesh, marshy dremelka, Siberian irises. Here is a real bird kingdom – many species of ospreys, ducks, herons live.

Threats: development of cottages, drainage of meadows.

3. Trukhanov Island, located in the Dnieper region, the area is 283 hectares. One of the most valuable and last of the islands of Kiev that has no protection status. Three species of plants, mentioned in the Red Book of Ukraine, grow here – dremel in the shape of a hellebore, palm root in red, polymer vines (now the only place of growth in Kyiv). It hosts 30 species of butterflies, as well as more than 20 different species of birds, including 4 species of woodpeckers. So far, we have only been able to secure lakes on Trukhanov Island.

Threats: Gradual growth, “charm” of wildlife and the transformation of a valuable piece of wildlife into a park.


4. Vovkuvat entrance, located in Obolonsky district, Pochaina district, between N. Plavyuk and S. Bandera streets, the area is 15.9 hectares. A small wild reservoir, overgrown with swampy vegetation. A true bird paradise. About 20 species of waterfowl live here: blue-green, watercress, bitter, mallard, gray heron, many species of terns.

Threats: development, “wildlife charm” and the transformation of a wildlife area into a park or pond with gabions.

5. Lake Concha, located in the Goloseevsky district, an area of ​​10 hectares (the part that is part of Kiev). It is located in the west of Zhukov island. A miracle surviving remnant of the Koncha-Zaspa State Reserve, which operated in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Lake Koncha is a valuable clean lake of natural origin, home to about 15 species of birds (blue, gray heron , mallard, oystercatcher, etc.), as well as more than 20 species of fish (pike, sea bream, catfish, ranch, perch, gold and silver carp, etc.). One of the most fishing ponds in Kyiv.
Threats: development of cottages, sand mining, water washing.

6. Lake Konik, located in the Goloseevsky area near the village. Korchevatoe, area of ​​в αντικ. В.. The object – 27 hectares. This remnant of the ancient bed of the Dnieper is a favorite habitat for various species of birds and fish. There are also many beavers, turtles and snakes.

Threats: building its shores with cottages, hydraulic alluvium, sand mining.

7. Rachiy Island, located in the Goloseevsky district of Kiev, east of Zhukov Island, the area of ​​в αντικ. в.. the object is 12 hectares. It is a piece of wildlife that is miraculously saved, consisting of water meadows and swamps. The real kingdom of different species of waterfowl. Two species of Red Data Book plants grow here – the swamp and the red palm root.

8. Bucket Lake, is located in the Goloseevsky district of Kiev, east of the reserve “Lesniki”. The area of ​​the object is 33.8 hectares. One of the cleanest reservoirs in Kiev of natural origin. Beavers, about 20 species of fish and about 10 species of waterfowl live here.

Threats: construction of its shores with holiday homes, hydraulic alluvium, sand mining, the so-called “cleaning” of the lake.

9. Diamond Lake, located in the Desnyansky district of Kiev. The largest and one of the most beautiful lakes in the capital. Area – 185.3 hectares. More than 20 species of fish live here, including sea bream, silver carp, perch, pike, cockroach, rut, etc. cormorants.

Threats: building its shores with cottages, hydraulic alluvium, sand mining.

10. Blue Lake, located in the Podolsky district of Kiev, in Vinogradar, an area of ​​15.9 hectares. Heirloom Lake. The only lake of the ice age in Kyiv. The lake has a unique fauna of insects and other invertebrates.
