“Fantastic” longest hiking trail in the world and real ecological paths of Russia

The longest route in the world, which (although only according to Google), you can walk, it is 22387 km. A significant part of it passes through Russia. We are talking about the “fairytale” international route and real ecological paths, equipped in Russia for those who want to walk a lot.

According to Google Maps, the longest walking route in the world stretches from Cape Town in South Africa to Magadan in Russia.

According to Google Maps, the walk will last 4,492 hours – that is, 187 days of continuous walking, excluding sleep time. If you go “working”, ie 8 hours a day, then it would take about a year and a half to overcome this distance.

The route passes through the territory of 16 states.

You can start your walk near Table Mountain in South Africa. The climb to the top takes about 2-3 hours and offers stunning views of Cape Town and the south coast. If the 22.3 thousand kilometers do not seem enough, then right on the plateau you can walk along one of the many hiking trails.

Next, the brave walker will be waiting for Botswana, where well-known travelers are offered to go on a safari tour. Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta are two of the best national parks in Botswana. It is full of elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes and zebras.

In addition, the traveler will find somewhere to rest after the first month and a half of the walk. In Botswana, you can choose from luxurious wooden cabins to spa resorts.

From Gaborone in Botswana to Victoria Falls in Zambia, a pleasant and easy 22-day journey awaits the traveler. In Zambia, of course, you should see the largest waterfall in the world – Victoria Falls, located on the Zambezi River on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its width is 1708 meters. Guests can take a dip in the natural pools at the top, but because of their proximity to the edge, they are not for the faint of heart!

Six months later, the efforts of a persistent pedestrian will be rewarded with a meeting with the Great Pyramid of Giza.

“Whether it was aliens or just an incredible work of slaves, the pure mathematical genius of the pyramids and the many mysteries surrounding their inner passages have become a legend,” travelers say. Advising, however, to grab enough snacks along the way.

The transition to the next wonder of the world – the magic Stone in Jordan – will take only two weeks. The archeological site, located in the south of the country, is excellently preserved.

Among other things, there is the world-famous Al-Khazneh Temple – a richly decorated structure carved directly into the sandstone rock. This tourist attraction is easily recognizable and was featured, for example, in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Meanwhile, it is believed to have been the mausoleum of the Navajo king Aretas IV, this is the most popular

If the traveler has already chosen the most non-standard way to meet the world, then the next stop in 5 weeks should be in Turkey, on Lake Van.

There are only many scenic hiking trails around the lake and many comfortable hotels. This is the perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of the Armenian kingdoms and the Mongol conquests.

The lake at different times was the center of the largest empires in the world. It even has its own counterpart to the Loch Ness monster: the Lake Van monster, first recorded in 1800.

And just 16 days from Lake Van, you can make your final stop before crossing the border into Russia and enjoy a break in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. With its cobbled old town and red-roofed houses, the town is impressively picturesque and nestled under the towering presence of Narikala, a 4th-century fortress.

Thus, the brave infantry arrived in Russia. But his journey is not over yet. As you move northeast, the temperature will continue to drop, and the landscape will become increasingly barren. There will be less and less places to stay. The journey to the end point of the route – Magadan – through the territory of Russia will take at least 253 days.

It is interesting to be surprised by the quirks of such a trip while sitting at the computer at home. But to use this information as a guide to action probably should not be.

In fact, of course, such a road is unlikely to be overcome, as it is full of almost insurmountable obstacles. Even if you start from the end: in Russia there will simply not be 253 days of weather suitable for hiking.

The borders of Abkhazia and Georgia are actually closed to the average traveler. You can not pass it legally. The illegal immigrants are also promised minefields and the watchful eye of the special services.

It is difficult to name Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan and more distant African countries suitable for travel. The security situation there leaves much to be desired, even if borders can be crossed. There are many difficulties.

For example, the long-running conflict between Sudan and South Sudan, through which Google offers to pass, promises a quick end to the traveler’s journey: these are some of the most dangerous places on Earth.

Therefore, it is better to embark on such a long cross-border journey virtually. But….

.. But if you want to walk for a long time and calmly, then in Russia you can walk on one of the ecological paths that equipped many before this season.

For example, in October 2021, an ecological trail was opened along the Uytag ridge in the Askizsky region of the Republic of Khakassia.

“This area is a natural monument and is under protection, but it is of great interest due to its natural beauty and the presence of geological antiquities and fossils,” said the Republic Tourist Information Center.

At the end of 2022, it is planned to open a visitor center on the popular tourist trail “Ancestor Trail” in the Shirinsky area and the improvement of this route will also begin.

“The new ecological trails are additional attractions for travelers. arbors, small architectural forms and convenient viewing platforms will appear on the routes in interesting locations for lovers of photographic content, while the tourist route becomes as comfortable and safe as possible. All this makes the sights of the Southern Urals more accessible and in demand, there is an increase in tourist traffic “, says the tourist administration of the Chelyabinsk region, where two similar facilities are scheduled to open in 2022: the ecological trails Argus and Bolshaya Suká.

In 2021, the “To Big Stone River” trail in Taganay National Park and the “Secrets of the Lake” trail in Zyuratkul National Park, the trail to Mount Kosotur (Zlatoust), the ecological and historical trail “In places of Emelyan Pugacheva” near the village of Veselovka, Zlatoust urban area.

Two new ecological trails of varying difficulty – “Volchya” and “Bear” – are equipped at the Chinetinsky refuge in the Altai Territory. The opening of similar facilities is reported by the Vologda and Kirov regions and the Khabarovsk region.

In the Republic of Komi, in 2021, the works for the recreational complex “Virgin Komi Forests” continued. This area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The basic idea of the development is the construction of infrastructure in four zones: the Manpupuner Plateau, the Forest, the Zhelannoye and the Mountain Ski zone. The arrangement of the ecological path “Source of the river Pechora – Manpupuner Plateau” is in the process of completion. The total length of the ecological path is 3140 meters, the improvement is planned to be completed in 2022.

In 2021, a new, already fourth, object of federal importance appeared in Komi – the Paraskiny Lakes reserve for the development of ecotourism. Today, in addition to the ecological path, the reserve has a parking lot, wooden sculptures, swings, benches, suspension bridge, kiosks and entrance arch. In the future, it is planned to equip a suspension bridge on the river Tobys.

The ecotrail “Visiting Vӧrsy” has opened in the Ust-Vymsky region of the Komi Republic, in the territory of the Bely regional reserve. For example, at the entrance of the path they put a log-goblin. Vӧrsa is a character in the mythology of the Komi people, who personifies the “spirit of the forest”.

Thus, hiking enthusiasts in Russia have a place to realize their interests and set a record.
