The collection of applications for the title “Property of the Middle Urals” has been completed. The Council of Experts is now studying the items, out of 104 it is necessary to select 15, they will be included in the ballot for the popular vote. OG talks about the candidates. This time – the story of a mysterious place where you can see orchids.
The picturesque Blue Mountain (552 meters above sea level) is located near the village of Baranchinsky. The slopes are covered with forest, and at the top there are rocks and two relay towers. One kilometer from the mountain – the most beautiful natural object, located in the same mountain range – Curly stone. It is slightly higher – 566 meters. The road to it is worse and not every means of transport can reach it. But walking and running – right.
– These are truly unique places, with a pristine nature, that has not been left so much in the industrial Urals. And we are proud that here, in our area, nature is practically untouched. The mountains are always full of people. Even retirees with Scandinavian sticks go to Blue, many runners train, cyclists. In winter, there is generally an invasion of vacationers with sleds, cheese pies. Families from all over the area come to relax, breathe the freshest air and take cool photos. Due to temperature fluctuations, the forest in winter is like lace, an awesome sight. Even the artist Vasnetsov was amazed by the beauty of our Blue Mountain when he traveled to the Urals. “Also on his paintings is a work by Mount Grace,” says one local Marina Tsikun.
The curly stone is the top with the sihans of the Blue Mountain. These shikhans got their name from their strange shape. A beautiful panorama opens from the rocks, from here you can see Kushva, Mount Kachkanar, a little Nizhny Tagil and Nevyansk, as well as the factories Nizhneturinsky, Laisky and Baranchinsky.
Blue Mountain is a geomorphological, geological, archaeological and botanical natural monument of the Sverdlovsk region. There are rare plants mentioned in the Red Book of the Middle Urals.
This place is also interesting as an archeological site. The first excavations on the mountain were made by a local historian Paul Rickert in 1959. A year later, a mission of the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Local Language worked here under his leadership. Amalia Rosadovic. At the rocky top, 55 square meters were excavated. Investigators opened many fires with coal, burnt bones and crucible fragments. (tanks for heating, drying, burning, baking or melting materials. –Editor’s note). According to the information received, there was an altar and a foundry on the mountain. Here were found 1288 objects: animal bones, ceramics with ornaments of crosses and combs, a plate with the image of two human figures, a versatile metal bead, a fragment of a ring, etc. Some of them are on display at the Nizhny Tagil Local Peace Museum. The findings date back to the Early Iron Age and the Middle Ages.
The Curly Stone mountain range is famous for its unique flora. This is the only one in the Middle Urals. There are six species of wild-growing orchids mentioned in the Red Book of the Middle Urals. For example, Lyubka bifolia (with its creamy white flowers and the most delicate aroma during flowering). This plant is widely distributed throughout the mountain range. The red palm of the meat in its beauty can compete with even the flowers of the garden; several specimens have been observed in wet places. Three species of Red Book feathers also grow there. But not only are the flowers beautiful and famous here, there are also pines and pines that are about 200 years old. The peregrine falcon, which is listed in the Red Data Book of Russia, also likes to nest here.
One of the attractions of these man-made places is the television tower. The third tallest means of communication in the area, the height of the construction is 110 m. 20 digital channels are transmitted from the TV tower. About 132 thousand people live in the signal coverage area. In 2021, the Baranchinskaya TV tower turned 60 years old. The abandoned narrow-gauge Kushva-Sylvitskaya (Konovalovskaya) railway is also of interest to tourists. It is located 10–15 km from Mount Sinaya. Nine stations were located on both sides of the Ural Mountains at 112 km of the route. Its peculiarity was that the path crossed the ridge of the Urals.
Resident of Baranchinsky Dmitry Krinitsyn For several years now, he has been organizing hiking trips on Blue Mountain, track racing and exploring new trails.
– I organized the first hiking trails, after the Curly Trail races. In the future, we plan to add even more interesting sections to the already finished pieces. But we do not have activities only in summer. For example, with the help of local ski enthusiasts, we organized the Sinegorskaya Snezhinka endurance ski race for the second time. The Blue Mountain run will take place on June 25. Participants are actively registering.
Place of power
These places would not be so interesting if it were not for the veil of mysticism, legends and occultism. The mysterious past helps to entice his tourist. Mystics are interested in mountain landscapes mainly as places of power. Historian Irina Zhdanova says that once there was a cave in the Blue Mountain, in which since the 19th century a prayer for the sub-botanists was held (a Jewish / Jewish movement started by the Russians in the late 18th century, whose followers observe the Sabbath, circumcision and other Jewish recipes. – Note. ed.). The book “Parishes and Churches of the Diocese of Yekaterinburg” (Yekaterinburg, 1902) says: “Near the plant there is Mount Blue, which consists of three rocks separated by deep abysses… that crown the mountain. The top of the curly stone serves as a weekly gathering of a special sub-botanical religious sect, quite widespread in the plant. On the mountain they said their prayers. Then, according to the allegations, the entrance to this cave was walled. However, there are rumors among the locals that the sub-botniks have moved to this cave again. The mountain is considered a sacred place for the believers of this faith. Therefore, the village of Baranchinsky became a kind of liaison for this movement.
– The Blue Mountain was also a sacred place for the Voguls (the former name of the Mansi people. –Note. ed.)who have lived here for centuries. They performed shamanistic rituals in the cup of their sacrifice. A huge altar was found on the ground of the mountain. All the exhibits, including the well-preserved twin brothers, are housed in the museum in Nizhny Tagil, Zhdanova added.
The locals believe that those who have visited these places will definitely want to return. They are sure that there is a position of power here. And for those who have no doubts, they offer to climb to a height of 552 meters above sea level and to feel peace and tranquility …
