The beginning of summer is the time of flowering of many plants of the field and meadows. It is impossible to take your eyes off the exquisite and wonderful flowers of the middle band. And how you want to make your small garden plot as harmonious with the surrounding nature, beautiful and comfortable. How can you spend more time in the countryside relaxing? What meadow plants can be used in garden design, how to combine them best, what kind of care do they need? Let’s try to figure this out today.
The joy of summer vacations for many summer residents is overshadowed by the need to cut their space about four to five times a season, and the sound of neighbors’ trimmers is also often annoying. After all, in the country we want to take a break from man-made noise. But I also want to keep the location in order. And of course there are ways to do that. One of them is the creation of a lawn meadow.
Incredibly graphic compositions are created from herbs and flowers of fields and meadows. These extraordinarily unpretentious plants impress with their variety of colors, shapes and aromas. The only important factor for them, perhaps, is the lighting. Therefore, many of these cultures are used in landscape design when creating decorative lawns, Moorish lawns, flower beds and slides in their garden.
In addition, it is now the culmination of fashion in the garden for images of luxurious meadows, especially where wildlife has been replaced by asphalt of cities and artificially planted gardens.
It is important to choose a style and idea close to your mind so that it is good for you on your site. But not everyone manages to find a solution on how to place beautiful flower beds in a small space with buildings and fences. Such compositions will look more successful along the perimeter of a well-groomed lawn. If the flowers are not tall, then you can plant them along the paths. Well, tall grasses are best planted along a fence or hedge. Meadow flower beds can be of any shape, with a wide view and a view from one side. The width will be convenient, allowing you to reach the middle of the flower garden without stepping on its edges.
The list of meadow plants for flower beds is very extensive, but there are some limitations.
Plants will live long and friendly if you do not combine flowers and herbs of different types of meadows, for example, alpine and steppe, in a single composition. Because the plants will need different agricultural techniques, which will significantly complicate their care.
Also, do not include plants with aggressive, strongly extended root systems and lush flowers that can stifle and overwhelm more modest neighbors.
When growing ornamental cereals, you need to strictly control their distribution. Particularly aggressive are the pennisetum, pampas grass and other species of wild grasses.
A meadow or lawn grass is usually arranged based on the meadow vegetation already on site.
And the Moorish lawn is arranged by a mixture of lawn grass with beautifully blooming, mostly wildflowers. A special feature of these lawns is that they do not mow. To plant such a meadow, you definitely need a mixture of ornamental perennials, such as: fine curved grass, Timothy grass meadow, fragrant bison, red fescue, bluegrass, wheatgrass, blue carpathian, red clover, red clover, deciduous and deciduous tree.
The composition, collected from tall meadow grasses, should look like valley meadows, evoking a sense of enjoyment in the face of untouched wildlife. But solid variety forms should be preferred to natural ones with a strong root system. Otherwise, your lawn will look like weeds on the side of the road.
Although the lawn garden is also called “lazy lawn”, because these plants are very unpretentious, they still require care. Spring pruning of shoots is necessary: before the start of new growth, the flower stems and yellowed leaves must be cut off.
Grasses are hardly affected by pests and diseases, with the exception of meadow grasses and reeds, which can get sick from rust.
To add a little color to cereals, you can use plants just as unpretentiously, close to agricultural technology. For example, maize flowers will look good among steppe grasses, bearded irises, catnip and cisterns can be planted in wetter areas. In sunny areas, you can plant a variety of onions, the eryngium will look very impressive.
And to achieve the continuous flowering of your meadow from spring to autumn, early spring is filled with many flowering species: tulips, crocuses, birds, dogs and muskrats.
In the compositions you can add small daisies, violets and forgotten.
In late spring – early summer, anemone, weed, swimwear, primroses and similar plant species begin to bloom, which then become indistinguishable in the shade of perennials.
A summer flower arrangement can consist of herbaceous perennials of medium size – sage, blue bells, poppies, ponds, cups, garden geraniums and stone crops.
The upper bouts featured two cutaways, for easier access to the higher frets.
And we will give the lower tier to cuffs, carnations and stars.
If you want to create a “mountain meadow”, then you can plant a small amount of coniferous dwarfs, pine dwarfs, small fir and juniper creepers, thus bringing the composition closer to the natural image. They will look especially impressive in early spring, when other plants have not yet grown. But next to the conifers plant only low-growing and creeping species of herbaceous perennials that will not put them in a difficult position and will not drown them.
The edges of the lawn can be decorated with ground cover plants – thyme, hardy, pond, stone and wild strawberry, which will soon become a living carpet.
The use of these plants in landscaping also minimizes the effort expended in maintaining the order of the garden, as they grow very richly, marginalizing almost all weeds. But these plants can not withstand trampling, so they are planted where no one walks.
And of course, do not forget to water in dry weather. And with regular watering and protection from birds and the wind, the grass can be sown all summer long.
