The largest volunteer event in the Federal District will gather 4,000 people. The action at Turgoyak will be a real celebration for all participants. The volunteers will put things in order in many places along the shore of a huge lake and then organize an entertainment program, delicious treats and useful master classes.
Turgoyak is named after Baikal’s younger brother for its amazingly tasty and clear water. This is one of the cleanest freshwater lakes in Russia and since 1961 it has the status of a natural monument. The lake is located at an altitude of 320 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains and pine forest. This is where the main event of the pan-Russian campaign to clean the shores of the “Water of Russia” bodies of debris will take place.
The Chelyabinsk region is part of the pan-Russian action “Water of Russia”. This year the event will take place on June 24-25. On the first day, the Ecological Water Forum will be held in Chelyabinsk, where we will discuss issues of conservation of our natural wealth and water resources. And already on the second day, thousands of volunteers will clean the shores of Lake Turgoyak, the pearl of the Southern Urals. By the way, they will do this using the technology of separate garbage collection. For three years, more than 62,000 people in the Southern Urals participated in the Water of Russia campaign, clearing about 2,500 km of coastline and collecting 6,000 cubic meters of rubbish. I am sure that this time the action will gather many participants, because in our area environmental issues are now among the unconditional priorities “. – he said Chelyabinsk Region Governor Alexei Texler.
For the eco-volunteers, the organizers prepare an entertainment program and meals. Cleaning equipment (bags and gloves) will be provided on site. The most active participants of the subbotnik will receive valuable gifts with the symbols of the action “Water of Russia”.

“The idea of action is very simple – to protect our water resources. To show by example that taking care of the cleanliness of the coast is not difficult at all, but it is extremely important for our nature. “Lake Turgoyak is hosting the important event of the Water of Russia campaign for the second consecutive year, because its purest waters require special protection and we must work together to make every effort to preserve them.” – he said Director of the Center for Development of the Water Management Complex of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, head of the Water of Russia campaign Ilya Razbash.
Each participating volunteer will be able to receive an honorary certificate from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation if they register on the Water of Russia campaign website and attach photos to the report on the previous event using “I am a volunteer”, selecting the necessary event in map “Reports” in the menu “Event Map” of the aforementioned website.
